Honoring the Divine Within & the Reflection
in Others
I come to you tonight with blessings and
greetings and I ask that you consider how it
is you choose to worship- how it is you come
to your own temple. What is it that you
choose to worship? Do you see what you
worship as outside yourself? Do you choose a
building or a park or a statue or a mantra?
There is nothing outside of yourself that
will call more power or more divinity to you
than what is already within your own heart
and soul.
Allowing yourself to open in prayer or
meditation or a chant or intention are all
ways to call in what you believe is outside
yourself. But, you must pay attention to
what this is and how you do it because it is
not outside you and it is only within. You
may see it outside you because, yes, what
you see and experience is the reflection of
your own divinity. But, do not mistake it
for your own power and your own Grace and
your own guidance- for you are God and you
are divine in your own right. Your essence,
who you are, whether you believe it or not
is powerful enough to hold all the power and
all the love of the universe.
As you come to the place where you really
and truly honor and love yourself as God, as
the beauty of the divine, it becomes more
and more apparent to you that what you
experience in your life is a reflection. A
way to start opening your heart to expand
into yourself is to really honor the divine
in others. Yes, the divine is in you and
needs to be honored there first, but you
tend to judge others. As you do so, it is
very apparent to you where the fault lies
and sometimes you’re not as quick to
acknowledge the pain or mistakes or what you
call fault in yourself. Although you may
judge yourself harshly, it is easy for most
people to see it without before they see it
within.
So, I ask you to look at everyone around you
and as you start to judge, stop yourself.
Remember, whatever pain or discomfort you
see in their reflection, it is a teaching
tool for you. It is a way to learn and
remember what it is you need to work on,
what it is you need to embrace about
yourself. And, if you don’t like what you
see, then change it. But, be gentle with
yourself and others because your pain is a
reflection of your fear and your doubt and
once you let go of this, who you truly are
will shine not only in your eyes, but in the
eyes of all those you meet.
There is a story about a little boy who
tripped and fell into a well. His brother
had to run to get help. His name was so long
that the brother almost drowned in the well
before he could bring help just trying to
speak the brothers’ name. And, the story,
although children do not see the deeper
meaning in it, the real point of this story
is that we trip over the reflection of who
we see. We don’t see past it, we can’t get
to the bottom of it because we’re not
allowing the truth to shine through. We see
what’s on the surface and we see the pain in
all its manifestations. And, once in a while
we see beauty. But, I ask you to try to turn
that around to see more and more beauty and
less pain.
When you see pain and suffering in the
world, know that it is a teacher and it
serves it’s purpose, but you do not need to
call it in for yourself to learn, and you do
not need to pity others. It does not serve
them. They will choose as they grow, to be
more and more gentle with themselves. So
judge not the joy or the pain, just see it
for what it is- a teacher. And ask yourself
if your perception could shift- if your
perception is feeding and exacerbating the
pain. Are you adding to it by pitying or are
you adding to it by feeling sorry for
someone? It doesn’t serve at all. If you
think about the energy that you put behind
pity or disappointment or anger, it can be
so much better put to use if you open your
heart in love and understand that as people
choose, they grow- and you do also.
If you will open your heart to yourself,
your own growth will come more readily
because as you understand that the pain is a
direct reflection of your fear and doubt, as
you let go of this, all of it will shift and
all of it can turn to joy. The judgment, the
pain, the sadness and the fear are all ways
to help you move through- but so are other
ways. There are so many other ways you can
move through what it is you are doing- in
joy. If you believe that you have come to
experience joy, and if you believe that it
is easy to experience joy and love, then it
will be.
So, look at what it is that you hold as your
deepest beliefs and your deepest fears and
release the places that hold the pain and
the blocks and the misunderstanding- because
all it can ever be is love and light. You
may see it as shadow, but it is only shadow
in the presence of light. You can shift your
perception in any moment to embrace the joy
more fully.
Your hearts are tools, not only for
yourselves- but for the universe, for every
being, no matter how large or small – for
all of it- for even what you call inanimate
objects. As you expand and open in this joy,
and release the pain and judgment, your
heart sends out a radiance that is so
magnificent and so strong and so beautiful,
that it is felt around the world. It is felt
by everyone you come in contact with. And,
you do ripple out into the universe with
your own statement of who you are.
So, think about what you want your statement
to be. How do you want to be represented as
you ripple out into the world? Do you want
to be your wounds and your fears? Or
judgments? Or, would you choose love and
joy. I ask you to dance. Dance through your
life and the lives of others- gently and
lovingly. Know that as you do so, the Grace
and beauty that you see in the world around
you is your reflection. It’s your heart
singing back to you. Namaste.
