Being Playful
Sweet
children, you are delightful beings. You are
playful nymphs in this sea of creative and
blissful, joyous energy. Do you not see your
own playfulness? You would be wise to
remember how much you love to play- not with
children, but with yourselves. The play that
you feel in your own hearts- the play that
you long to share with another.
Being playful heals and soothes and nurtures
the deepest parts of your soul. Find new
ways to be playful with each other, with
yourselves, with anyone you meet. Being an
adult doesn’t mean you have to give this up.
It’s O.K. to be silly. As a matter of fact,
it’s preferred. And, it’s just quite fine to
be playful with strangers, and it’s fine to
be playful with those that you would
hesitate to be playful with, because in
doing so, you remind them that they too,
wish to be playful.
As you choose to play, you choose to be
free. When you’re playing, you’re not
usually worried or focused on limitation.
When you’re playing, you are feeling
unlimited and expansive, and this is who you
need to be, who you came to be. It's
playtime! Think about the things that you
love to do or wish you had done years ago,
or things that you might like to try now if
you had the time. And, try to incorporate
playtime into your daily life. Choose
playfulness. When you’re struggling, trying
to find a way out of the problem, stay in
the problem and ask yourself how you can
bring playfulness in and how it can be part
of the solution.
Don’t let your children loose this. If they
see that you are playful- and can be so
spontaneously, it will be easier for them to
maintain their playfulness and to carry it
with them into adulthood. This is a great
gift. Don’t become frustrated with your
children as they play so naturally in
moments of times that you wish they would be
serious. Remember that they are owning who
they really are. Find a way to incorporate
this playfulness instead of pushing it
aside. Pushing it aside teaches them not to
accept the most joyous parts of themselves-
as most adults have already done. Recapture
and rediscover your inner sense of wonder
and childlikeness. Namaste. |
